Lesson Program

Ellen & Diffy Hang Time.jpg

We offer traditional English riding lessons to students ages 8 and up*, from beginners who have never sat on a horse before, to more experienced riders looking to move up.  We have showing opportunities for those who are interested, but showing is NOT a requirement to ride with us!

Lessons: Welcome

Re-Riders: Have you been out of the saddle for a while, but looking to get back into riding?  Are you a little uncertain if you "still got it"?  We can help!  Our quiet horses help you regain your confidence and your position, and our trainer knows exactly how hard to "push" without over doing it.  We have several students in their 40s, 50 and even 60s who have come back to riding after years... or even decades... out of the saddle.  And they are loving every minute of their riding experiences!  Come join them!

Our Lesson Program:  Stonehouse Equestrian is able to offer the use of nice, safe lesson horses for you to learn on or you may trailer in with yours. Our lessons are never over-crowded since we feel personalized attention is more important than being a lesson factory. We only offer private, one-on-one lessons as we prefer to focus on quality vs quantity. We have lighted arena so evening lessons after work or school are not a problem, even in the winter

We don't just focus on riding.  Our lesson program is comprehensive and includes many aspects of horse husbandry. When the weather forces us to bring our activities indoors, we have unmounted theory sessions where we discuss horse care, first aid, conformation and how it affects a horse's performance, diet and nutrition, barn chores, care and cleaning of riding equipment, discussions about different kinds of equipment and how it is used (and sometimes abused) in equestrian sports, and more. All important elements of becoming a horseman or horsewoman.
